Teaching Opportunities next to the world famous Bogor Botanic Garden: Posts available in June, July, August and September 2012 in Bogor, Indonesia

You may have heard of the world-famous Bogor Botanic Garden in Java, Indonesia. This is Indonesia's first and foremost botanic garden and ranks amongst some of the most well known gardens in the world. The 87 hectares of beautifully kept trees, plants, flowers, lawns and ponds lie smack in the centre of Bogor, The gardens border the Presidential summer palace.

Bogor is about 60 km south of Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia and you will need only one hour to get to Jakarta as you can take a scenic toll road. It was an important hill station during Dutch times, from the 17th century. Today Bogor has almost become a suburb of Jakarta, but is a good base for nearby mountain walks. Its altitude is only 290m, but it is appreciably cooler than Jakarta. The school location is also close to south beach of west java, Palabuhan Ratu, popular beach for surfer.It is about 2,5 hours away. Some teachers have motor bikes where they can get there almost every weekend and the Puncak tea plantation is about 45 minutes ride.

EF Bogor Pajajaran has been operational since 1997.The school is equipped with the latest in teaching aids, materials and educational multi-media technology. The school has a Director of Studies, 9 native teachers and 4 Non-native (Indonesian) English teachers with 600 students.

We opened a new school in March 2012 in Bogor, EF Yasmin. The school has been a great success with over 300 students on when it first opened. The school is located in a modern residential area in the north part of Bogor.

We are looking for EFL teachers with a minimum of CELTA, CTEFL or equivalent. 
In some cases other qualifications will be considered, depending on the nature and extent of experience.

Position Summary
This position is accountable for the overall campus management of the respective Academic Affairs program(s). Ensures the quality and integrity of the program(s) at new and existing campuses and learning centers.

Primary Accountabilities
Participates in the selection, assessment, certification, mentoring, evaluation and training of campus faculty. May also participate in the selection, orientation, and training of campus personnel.

Supervises activities of lead faculty, area chairs and instructors assigned to the College.

Develops and maintains the quality and integrity of the College’s Programs. This position is accountable for program integrity and implementation at existing campuses, as well as new campuses and learning centers.

Develops and maintains strong relationships by serving as a program resource for campus staff, faculty, and students, as well as a liaison to central administrative academic affairs staff. Responds to student issues and concerns, and counsels them into other University programs as necessary.

Serves as a core administrative faculty member teaching within the program curricula.

Monitors, reviews, and retains program-specific internship and practicum documentation when applicable.

Monitors and evaluates agencies to determine their effectiveness in providing students with appropriate and relevant experience. Provides recommendations for continued use of agencies. This includes initiating contacts with agencies to secure and update necessary affiliation agreements and appropriate student internship placements as appropriate.

Assists central administration academic affairs personnel, including the Dean from respective program(s), in the development and review of curriculum as needed or requested.

Participates and may lead task forces and committees to represent and address academic concerns to campus management team and/or central administration. This may include participating in the planning, implementation, and coordination of campus and/or regional activities to maximize service quality effectiveness and efficiency.

Represents the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community by participating in targeted events, conferences, meetings, and workshops. This includes developing and maintaining active linkages with agencies and educational institutions to promote positive relationships and to facilitate articulation between the University’s programs and those of other institutions and/or agencies.

Maintains a professional and technical knowledge of the curricula by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. This includes maintaining a general knowledge of emerging issues and trends related to the respective campus Academic Affairs program(s).

Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
 

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Master's or doctorate degree, as noted below, in respective academic program or related field required. Must have proven experience in a field related to the content of the academic program.

Proven experience in teaching and/or administration at a regionally accredited college or university preferred. Familiarity with adult education experience preferred.

Demonstrated evidence of skill in operations systems management.

Must be able to demonstrate a high level of problem solving and decision-making abilities to respond to student issues and concerns, evaluate students for retention, and counsel them into other University programs as necessary.

Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate with students, faculty, employees, and external parties as it relates to the management of the respective campus Academic Affairs program.

Must possess the ability to convey a professional image, as well as effectively represent the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community.

Other education and experience requirements from respective programs include:

College of Graduate Business and Management - Doctoral degree required. Minimum of five (5) years recent working experience in business or related field; a minimum of two (2) years significant experience in teaching, business administration or administration at a college/university level. Knowledge of adult education principles/practices, curriculum development, and academic content area.

Academic Director

- Based in Asia Pacific –

Job purpose:

To provide local academic leadership on the development, operation and quality assurance of Raffles University’s degree programmes and other third party universities (at that local site) and act as the chief academic liaison between the designated REC education unit and Raffles University.  The Candidate will be expected to promote and deliver the Master of Design and Commerce Programmes, oversee the quality assurance of all programmes delivered through Raffles Design Institute.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


Local quality assessment of the academic programmes

Monitoring operations

Monitoring of all students admitted to the programme in accordance with RU General Regulations

Monitoring of enrolment and registration processes

Monitoring induction of students

Liaising with the RU Assistant Registrar

Ensuring that all marketing and publicity material for the programme is forwarded to RU for approval

Ensuring that all the changes made to the content, delivery or assessment of any modules by RU is implemented in full

To assist in promotion and delivery of the company’s master degree programs


 

Requirements:


Native speaker with a Master’s Degree or PhD in Design or Design Management discipline from a recognized University

At least 8 years' experience industry experience with a credible portfolio

Dynamic and enthusiastic, with an interest to nurture students and to help them achieve their potential

Able to adapt to a multi-cultural setting and to handle students of different nationalities

Must have a passion in teaching

Responsibilities:


Design course curriculum materials in Interior Design / Interior Architecture

Plan and deliver these lessons clearly

Monitor and maintain high student morale and motivation

Ensure student discipline

Assist with school promotional activities


Requirements:


Bachelors Degree in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture from a recognized academic institution

At least 5 years' industry experience with a credible portfolio

Preferably 2 years lecturing experience in Art History, CAD, Design Principles, Furniture Design, Rendering or any other relevant study areas

Can adapt to a multi-cultural setting with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to handle students of different nationalities

Willing to relocate to one of our Asian campus

Have a passion in teaching.
